This also extends to the definition of what constitutes AP/Armor Piercing ammunition. The former definition of AP determined the classification by virtue of metallurgy; now, AP is viewed as any projectile capable of penetrating a patrolman’s Level IIB ballistic vest. That would include virtually ALL centerfire RIFLE ammunition. Cosmetics is another issue as to what constitutes an “assault weapon”.
