In China, some say he is now as powerful as Mao was. In fact many liken him to Mao. I think you have to look at the conditions China was in and where she was heading to understand why he accrued so much power. First, most Chinese, and the Communist Party were really amazed how successful they had economically become. They didn’t want to destroy the goose that laid the golden egg. However, along the way, the goose got a lots of parasites that were bleeding the goose’s health. ( Jiang fraud, corruption, and abuse of power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_jyXGq3zt8 Jiang Zemin that people know but don’t talk about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGQbYFHwaJM ) The Communist party thought long and hard about the problem because many that would be accused of these crimes, were they, themselves. But, they also saw that if nothing were done and it was business as usual, not only might China lose her strength, but the Communist party would lose it’s mandate (from heaven) to continue it’s leadership and power. They looked amongst their party elite and decided Xi was best qualified to save the party and China. They gave him more power than ever before because to quell the ranks of corruption would take a heavy hand. Those most guilty, obviously weren’t going to give up their wealth and power without a fight, so with Xi’s nomination, the internal fight began. The fight has not ended, nor will it go away. In parallel, Xi is trying to diversify China from solely depending on trade. Though trade continues to be very important to China, it can only thrive if she can remain competitive. How? China needed to move up the food chain by developing more complex and innovative products. As she grew economically, wages rose, people lived better, and the wealth of the nation spiraled upwards. To continue, she also needed to expand how she would efficiently get products to market, both domestic and international. You see today, a recharged China pouring funds into new research and development, domestic and international infrastructure expansion, and growing both international and domestic consumer markets. If these plans come into fruition and the corruption fades into history, President Xi Jinping will have left his mark on Chinese history as one of the better Emperors who successfully guided the mandate of heaven for China.

Does Xi Jinping have any known political opponents?
The question assumes that Chinese politics are like Western politics. They’re not. They’re Confucian and ours are Roman.
Our Republican and Democratic Parties are the intellectual heirs of their Roman forebears, the Patrician and Plebeian parties. Our politicians even use Latin political jargon like ‘senate’ and ‘quorum’.
George Washington[1], a student of Roman history, knew parties’ liabilities. “Party serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasional riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another”. Seventy years later, Congressional parties precipitated a completely avoidable Civil War.
Always culturally disposed to consensus, the Chinese forbade political factions after two such catastrophes. In 1,000 AD China was the most technologically advanced nation on earth but conservative and progressive factions in government brought treason charges against each other, spread rumors, sabotaged generals from rival factions and so weakened the government that the Mongols invaded and almost destroyed the country. Five hundred years later the Ming Dynasty fell as rival administrative factions–both proclaiming their patriotism–engaged in mortal combat and, in Washington’s words, their country’s policy and will were subjected to the policy and will of another. The Manchu invaded, massacred a third of them, conquered the country which is why, to this day, China forbids factions.
In other words, while Chinese politicians compete for promotions, they do so by enriching the people they govern. Whoever enriches the most people gets promoted and that applies especially to Xi Jinping.

His father famously doubled everyone’s incomes for decades. Xi himself grew up in poverty then, for 28 years, doubled the incomes of the millions of people he governed. By the end of his current term, Xi will have doubled the income of every Chinese. How do you oppose a guy who does more for his people in ten years than all American Presidents since Eisenhower–combined?
China doesn’t do ‘political opponents’. That’s a Western thing.

The entire US Taiwan strategy is based on a fatal flaw, namely that the Taiwanese would fight their fellow Chinese brethren, for their precious sovereignty. They won’t. So, no proxy war. And since the US will not confront China directly, so no Taiwan war. The US entire Taiwan strategy is doomed to failure. I’ve been saying this repeatedly in Quora. But the standard narrative is war, war, war. So much wishful thinking by pro-American commentators, drooling at the mouth over the prospects of Ukraine war 2.0. The Chinese are witnessing in real time the death of a people and society, fighting and dying for America. The Chinese are not stupid. Eventually, the US will lose interest and move their war machine elsewhere.
Jm Chow
Ukraine is a war in Europe. The US attempted to use the Ukraine war (by imposing 10,000 sanctions against Russia) to topple Putin…and to destroy Russia. Biden FAILED…in both.
If Taiwan declared independence, the PLA will use force to unify the island with the mother land…effectively ending the civil between Chiang Kai Sek and Mao. It is a civil war, a domestic affair. NOTHING to do with the USA.
This unification by force is entirely different from the war in Ukraine.
If the USA get involved… by using the US military to support Tsai…then it will be a war between the US and China.
This will led to a nuke war between China and the USA. Then both the USA and China are likely to be destroyed by a nuclear holocaust.
Will the US risk a nuke war, risk All cities in mainland USA being nuked and destroyed, risk the death of hundreds of millions Americans …just for a NON allied Taiwan? NO.
In this sense, the US military will not get involved directly … both in the unification of Taiwan and in the war in Ukraine.
If Japan get involved, China will nuke all the major cities in Japan (just like the US nuked Japan in WWII). Biden will face the same dilemma … will Biden risk a nuke war with China (by getting Japan to fight his proxy war in Taiwan)? Biden is stupid …if he did.

The Taiwanese host fought the US vice president for the mainland! In year 2018 oct 08 shared by my uncle.

Very informative article on the injustice done to China by Taiwanese lady…….
U.S. Vice President Pence delivered a speech against China at the Washington think tank Hudson Institute. His speech was tough and provocative. (Taiwan hostess Huang Zhixian published an article in the media “Response to U.S. Vice President Pence”
Huang Zhixian is known as the “ashamed of the Blue Army, ashamed of the green camp, and a strange woman in Taiwan,” and her article on the US Vice President is reasonable, well documented, and worth reading.
The text is as follows:
Your Excellency Mr. Vice President:
1 When President Trump’s present trust and prestige are extremely low on the coming election, it is really regrettable that you have made such a speech with much lies and accusations, disregarding the facts, and much slander towards China. You obviously don’t know the true and complete history of China, or you deliberately ignore or twisted it.
2 China never owes the United States anything, and is more generous and kind to the United States than you can imagine. What we Chinese people desperately resent and resist is the attitude of not treating the Chinese as humans. I know very well that until the 1960s, black people were still not regarded as a whole person in your country. The world remembers that in your country until 1963, the great Dr. King, in his great speech “I have a Dream”, that all men are created equal and that black children can work hand in hand with white children like brothers and sisters. However, racial discrimination against blacks and other minorities in the United States is still a very serious problem.
3 In history, cooperation between China and the United States has always been beneficial to the peace of mankind, and the United States has benefited much more. When the Qing Dynasty was weak and corrupt, the foreign powers invaded and almost carved up China. Although the United States is vast and rich in resources, it was not absent or innocent. When Britain acquired a concession in Tianjin, the United States actually got a concession too. The United States was too lazy to use it, and privately transferred it to Britain. You mentioned about the Boxer indemnity. When the Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded the Forbidden City and China was looted, they were forced to pay sky-high compensation – 450 million taels of silver. This is China’s five-year fiscal revenue! Although the United States did not send troops, it actually received 7.3% of the total compensation. That is the state of a declining China, the deadliest knife on the back, and the gold of blood and tears of the hundreds of millions of the Chinese people.
4 The United States has a far-reaching vision, as the territory of the United States has expanded. What the United States wants is economic and trade interests and political influence. James, the president of the University of Illinois, suggested to Roosevelt: If the United States can successfully attract Chinese students, then they can control them culturally and intellectually. To control China’s development in the most satisfactory and ingenious way is to manipulate the Chinese leaders with knowledge and thinking. This is the original intention of the United States with regard to the Boxer compensation – to help China build the Tsinghua University. Taking the part of China’s compensation, in order to control China spiritually, intellectually and culturally, Tsinghua University was built. However, some people want China to be grateful to the United States for this! The American Chinese Exclusion Act of 1880s made the Chinese people angry and they spontaneously boycotted American products. Within three years, China’s imports from the United States fell from 55 million yuan to 25 million yuan. The US envoy to China was worried and proposed to “return part” of Boxer’s compensation to China in order to calm this anger. The “Boxer refund” in the United States is actually returning the part that the United States considers “extra”. Moreover, China still has to pay the full amount of the indemnity on schedule, and the United States will then return the “surplus” money to designated funds in installments. Yes, we are grateful that China has the Gengzi students studying in the United States and Tsinghua Academy. But what the U.S. got is this: spend most of the compensation in the U.S. to expand its long-term influence in China. It also tried to repair the image of the United States in China, promoted the American ideology, and to solve this China’s urgent boycott problem of American products and produce.
5 After the First World War, at the Paris Peace Conference, China’s land was taken. Japan invaded China during World War II, China was isolated and helpless, and the United States did not lend a hand. Even in China’s most critical moment, the United States still supplies Japanese strategic war materials. The United States did not declare war on Japan until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Even so, China still has not received a fair treatment and assistance from the US. The tens of millions of casualties of Chinese soldiers and civilians, and the blood and tears of its people, almost annihilated the country. The world is totally unwilling to mention that China changed the history of World War II with its own flesh and blood. The United States, Britain and Russia, betrayed China. Diaoyutai island belongs China, but was not return to China along with Taiwan after the war. The US, as an occupier, handed over Diaoyutai to Japan. Japan’s 731 units used the Chinese as animals in their experiments. This is because Japan dedicated the experimental reports to the US, in exchange of decades of silence from the United States.
6 China has experienced aggressions, wars and various calamities in its recent history. It still have many shortcomings and challenges ahead. Since the reform and opening up in the 1980s, China’s population experienced much abundance, progress, peace and stability, it never experienced before in the last 200 years or so. More than 700 million of its population were lifted out of poverty and ignorance by the policies and programs carried out by its government. We the Chinese people, cherish this very much. And China’s current state of peace and security does not depend on aggression and colonization. It depends on the creativity, ingenuity, wisdom, enterprising, sacrifice and diligence of the Chinese people. The US has also gained much benefits from China’s hard working and cheap labor. The Chinese bought 30% of the American iPhones. But the iPhone is price $300 each in China. China only took the $10 labor cost for assembly, while the United States benefitted more than $200 each in profits from the iPhone!
7 Human civilization has different development paths. For all countries invaded by foreign powers, why can’t China embark on its unique road to prosperity and progress, as it has a much longer civilization and history than any nations in the world? Many countries that have pursued democracy are destroyed and became failed nations. The reasons are simple – there are much injustice, corruption, nepotism, divisions, racial and class discriminations, selfishness, ignorance, persecutions and police brutality etc. etc. in those countries. There is still a gap between China and the United States in most aspects. However, with the ingenuity, creativity, hard work, enterprising, perseverance and the sacrificial attitude of the Chinese people, it will not only narrow the gap but will eventually lead all other nations as a world leader in every field of human endeavor. The benchmark for evaluating China should never be the American leaders as they have never shown any exemplary and inspirational model or guide to the world. To them it is all about power, regime change, control, wars, money, politics, etc and all the evil selfishness in their hearts. The US is a hypocrite, never practiced what it preaches, prejudiced and ignorant of other nations and people, and presently a very dangerous world leader.
8 We understand that the US, based on its desire to exert global dominance, has a negative vision of China’s rise and prosperity. It feels threatened. In order to suppress China, the United States has launched a three-dimensional and all-rounded containment against China. U.S. warships even rampage in our territorial waters. This is unwise and dangerous as China and its people’s humiliating experience over the last 200 years will never allow this to ever happen again. You can rest assured they will fight to the bitter end! God will not be pleased with all these dominance and oppression of the US or any other powers. The Chinese philosophy is simple: “achieve/improve oneself and also benefit others” believes that it is not only more beneficial to serve mankind, but also more pleasing to God.

China Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s 2023/4/21 speech is significant. It has changed world perception. Like the hammer used by a judge in court, it settles the controversy who the true trouble maker is for the Taiwan tension. How does it change world perception?
From now onward …
1, Whoever supports Taiwan separatism & blames China for militarily changing the status quo of Taiwan, they are the one who has broken Cairo Declaration signed after WW2.
They are the one who breaks the rule-based international order.
They are the one who breaks world peace.
China follows Cairo Declaration. It is not China who causes Taiwan tension. But China is forced to respond to provocation from law-breaker(s).
2, Whoever interprets ONE CHINA as 1-China-1-Taiwan or 1 Taiwan, they are the one who breaks Cario Declaration, rule-based international order & world peace.
Other than Cairo Declaration, ONE CHINA is about China. Like it or not, China has the final say about its interpretation. Not any other country. Not Taiwan separatists either. That is fundamental Rule-of-Law.
China is not ambiguous about what ONE CHINA means.
If you have a reasonable mind, exercise your logical thinking to sort out the cause & effect.
If you decide to break intl order, say so. Loudly. Tell the world you want to return to jungle rule where YOUR rule is THE law. No need to play word game to mislead people.
If you decide to follow warmonger USA to harm Taiwanese, question your soul if it is morally correct.
Details of Qin’s speech can be found in Quora under the question: On 2023/4/21 China Foreign Minister Qin Gang gave a stern speech re Taiwan. What is it?

Why does China feel that Taiwan belongs to it?
Let’s take a look at two pictures
This is the background photo of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, you can take a look at it, it clearly says CHINA (taiwan).
What does China mean to you all?
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan is communicating with the journalists in front of this background, what does this mean?
Here is a published map of Taiwan, as you can see, which puts Taiwan and mainland China together
So what do you want to confirm?
At least for the time being, the administration of Taiwan, which itself admits to being part of China?
Why do other non-Chinese people say it is not?
The recovery of Taiwan after the Japanese occupation
The Cairo Declaration of 1 December 1943 stated that Taiwan would be returned to the Republic of China at the end of the Second World War. Similarly, the Potsdam Declaration of 26 July 1945, accepted by Japan, stated that “Japan’s sovereignty will be limited to Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and these small islands, and thus will no longer have sovereignty over Taiwan”.
On 14 August 1945, the Japanese Emperor Showa announced the unconditional surrender of Japan by issuing the “Imperial Edict of the End of War” and the end of the Second World War. According to Article 1 of General Order No. 1, a military order issued by the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Field Marshal MacArthur, “The senior commanders of the Japanese forces in China (except Manchuria), Taiwan, and French Indochina (present-day northern Vietnam and Laos) north of 16 degrees north latitude, and all land, naval and air forces and auxiliary units shall surrender to General Chiang Kai-shek”, Chiang appointed General Chen Yi to go to Taiwan on 25 October to accept the surrender of the Japanese forces in Taiwan. The National Government of the Republic of China (ROC) took over Taiwan on behalf of the Allied Powers and Chiang Kai-shek appointed Chen Yi as the Chief Executive of the Office of the Chief Executive of Taiwan Province.
In the Joint Communiqué of the Government of Japan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the Termination of the Treaty of Taipei, the document marking the establishment of the People’s Republic of China and Japan’s formal relations, Japan states in Article 3 that it fully understands and respects the position of the Government of the People’s Republic of China that Taiwan is an inseparable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China. Japan also maintains a firm position in accordance with Article 8 of the Potsdam Declaration. It reads “The provisions of the Cairo Declaration shall be implemented”.
In accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, the People’s Republic of China became the successor government to the Republic of China on behalf of China, and as such, the People’s Republic of China undoubtedly has sovereignty over Taiwan.
In the international context, self-determination is usually directed at countries or regions that do not have independent sovereignty, such as colonies and non-self-governing territories, for example, the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples states that “all peoples have the right to self-determination” and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples states that “indigenous peoples, in the exercise of their right to self-determination, shall have the right to autonomy or self-government in matters relating to their internal and local affairs and in matters concerning the financing of the exercise of their self-government functions. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples provides that “indigenous peoples, in the exercise of their right to self-determination, shall have autonomy or self-government in matters relating to their internal and local affairs and in the raising of funds for the exercise of their autonomous functions”. While the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, signed in 1993, emphasises that ‘taking into account the particular situation of peoples under colonial or other forms of alien domination or foreign occupation, the World Conference on Human Rights recognises the right of peoples to take lawful action in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations to realize their inalienable right to self-determination’, it also states that ‘this shall not be construed as authorising or encouraging any action to the total or partial dismantling or violation of the territorial integrity or political unity of sovereign and independent states”.
The right of self-determination is premised on the “special circumstances of peoples subject to colonial or other forms of alien domination or foreign occupation”
There are only a few hundred thousand indigenous peoples in Taiwan, the rest being basically the same Han Chinese population as in mainland China.
The current ruling authorities in Taiwan are based on the United Nations and the international treaties of the Second World War, and are also recognised by the world. There is no country that considers the current ruling authority in Taiwan to be an invasion (not even the United States, which passed the Taiwan Relations Act).

Interesting that after so long since your posting, there is not a single experts, talking heads, advisors, politicians, zombies, mainstream reporters, propaganda machine, trolls, etc) who voice an objection nor did they challenge your posting.
It perhaps highlight that when the true (light) shine upon the darkness, darkness just vanishes as they know what they are. Just pure evil and no defence against truth.
The sad reality is, there are too many brainless two legged species walking around us spreading lies and propaganda (some deliberated while others are just ignorant). Of course, some are funded or benefitting by spreading such toxic.
For those who really care (a really tiny minority), the truth is out there.
If you follow the Western Media or do your search from the Western controlled search engines, you are likely to be in TOTAL darkness. They are so full of lies and half false.

Ryukyu (Okinawa) Governor to Visit China in mid-May
China has announced that it will officially refer to Okinawa as Ryukyu Prefecture. The Ryukyu Kingdom was an independent kingdom until the 1840s when it was annexed by Japan. In 1879, Japan changed the name to Okinawa Prefecture.
In April, the Okinawa governor Denny Tamaki met with the Chinese ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao, and in May he will travel for a visit to China.
China has stated that the Potsdam Declaration at the end of WWII stated that Japan was limited to the four main Japanese islands of Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu and Shizuoka.
Okinawa was the site of one of the bloodiest Pacific battles between the US and Japan, and one-fourth of the adult population was killed. Japanese forces committed many of the Okinawans to commit suicide instead of surrendering to the Americans.
It is now the site of a major US base in the Pacific and would be a forward base if there is war between the US and China.
Chien-Sheng Tsai
China should sponsor a UN resolution to restore the Kingdom of the Ryukyus to independence.

This is called “making trump cards out of thin air” (無中生牌) by making the Japanese version of the “Taiwan Problem”.
Chien-Sheng Tsai
Not quite Taiwan but similar. Hey get all the African, South American nations to vote.
Will Vong
Yes—or at the very least—it should be given greater self-government and autonomy similar to an autonomous region(e.g. Tibet, Tuva, Nunavut) or overseas dependent territory(e.g. Puerto Rico, New Caledonia, Guam) or something like a constituent state(e.g. Wales, Aruba, Greenland) or associated state(e.g. Palau, Cook Islands, Liechtenstein).
Donald McLellan
Autonomy? Okinawa is basically under US military occupation. US military are basically imminent from Japanese law. Autonomy would be just the 51st US state.
Zhi-Long Chen
This is a great move by China. Japan is helping its American daddy to play the Taiwan card. China hence should play the Ryukyu card for its own benefit
Dangling Legs Giraffe
If the USA can create the “Xinjiang genocide” card out of thin air then China can also create the “Ryukyu independence” card too.

Okinawa is seeking independence. It asks China for help. What has happened to Okinawa?
Okinawa is a Japanese & English name. Its Chinese name is Chong Sheng (冲绳). In 2023, it has returned to its history & renamed itself BACK to Liu Qiu (琉球). It was called Zhong Shan Wang Guo (中山王国)more than 150 years ago.
Liu Qiu is composed of many islands & rocks. Geographically Liu Qiu is located between Taiwan & Japan. But is closer to Taiwan than to Japan.
Liu Qiu was an independent country. It had diplomacy & business with China since 1429 & was under protection of China (like Korea).
Before WW2, when China’s Qing dynasty was militarily weak, Japan colonized many Asian countries & places incl Liu Qiu, Korea & Taiwan.
After WW2, the defeated Japan were forced to leave its colonies. According to Cairo Declaration, Japan territory only included Japan’s 4 big islands & a few rocks where there were no human.
In Liu Qiu, there were & are natives living there. Clearly there is no way Liu Qiu was part of Japan according to Cairo Declaration. Liu Qiu was independent from Japan.
How did Liu Qiu become a Japanese county today?
In 1972, USA unilaterally renamed Liu Qiu to Okinawa & put it under Japanese jurisdiction. Liu Qiu government was powerless to resist USA. (USA also unilaterally gave China’s Diao Yu Dao (钓鱼岛) to Japan, but there was no human on the rock. Today China vigorously protects Diao Yu Dao from Japan.)
1972 was an important date. It is the year when USA betrayed Taiwan’s ROC sovereignty & recognized PRC as the legitimate government to represent China in UN.
Why gave Liu Qiu to Japan at this time?
USA built a big US military base on Liu Qiu close to Taiwan. That is, to closely watch Taiwan for rebellion. After all USA had betrayed Taiwan first.
Before & during WW2, Japan was a bully in Asia. Forced labor/slave people from Korea, China incl Taiwan & of course Liu Qiu. Slavery means Japan did not treat others as humans. Insufficient food. Long hours of work. Not to mention physical beating.
Like Hitler’s Jewish holocaust, Japan did the same in Liu Qiu, China incl Taiwan (Nanjing massacre) & Korea. Liu Qiu people never forget that massacre.
Today, US soldiers on Liu Qiu are lawless. Rapes. Assault esp after alcohol. But they are immune from Liu Qiu law incl covid restrictions.
In 2023, Japan also stations Japanese soldiers in Liu Qiu.
Liu Qiu knoWhy does China feel that Taiwan belongs to it?
https://chinaworldleader.quora.com/USAs-Propaganda-is-worthless-https-www-quora-com-Why-does-China-feel-that-Taiwan-belongs-to-it-answer-Huijian-Wu-2?__nsrc__=4&__snid3__=52746223161
ws well:
If there is Taiwan war, USA & Japan will turn Liu Qiu into a ruin, both physically & economically. Dont be naive to think USA cares about human rights.
That is why Liu Qiu badly wants independence & declares neutrality among big countries eg China & USA+Japan. Not to mention to kick out lawless US & Japanese soldiers.
China is to do 2 things.
1, Accept Liu Qiu’s request for formal diplomacy between the 2 in summer 2023.
2, Following Cairo Declaration, China will ask UN to recognize Liu Qiu as an independent country. USA’s unilateral action in 1972 was illegal.
